Everything is replicated seamlessly, but your DNS is only pointed to your primary data center, and your TTL is set to a day, or maybe even a week. You have redundancy on your side, sure, but if your first server goes down and you don't have the Dynect platform's DNS, you could still lose what a user would feel is an eternity of up-time. The Dynect platform allows you to seamlessly update your DNS when that first server goes down, redistribute your traffic and totally avoid an outage event. We monitor on HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP or ICMP/Ping on a 24x7 basis. At 3 AM, when your primary server goes down, we'll find out, immediately switch your DNS to point to your secondary hosting solution and send you an email letting you know about the event.
